EMDR

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, is an effective form of therapy that helps you to process previous trauma and past experiences that are affecting your mental health today.  The trauma may result from something big, like accidents, being in combat, natural disasters etc, but smaller events can be traumatic to the body and mind too and have long lasting effects – the way in which you were spoken to by someone in your life or treated can have a bigger impact that we often recognise.

These events may then replay in someone’s mind affecting their everyday life and response to situations they encounter.

EMDR uses a series of side to side eye movements, physical tapping movements or sounds that alternate sides, to help process the negative emotions, images and beliefs that the trauma caused and seem to have become stuck in the person’s mind.

Using EMDR with hypnotherapy allows me to help you to re-process the trauma and memories so that the negative symptoms and emotions relating to the event become memories, no longer holding the significance they did. The trauma and memories move from being physically and mentally re-experienced in your current life, to past memories that no longer hold the same emotions or significance for you now.

It is a powerful therapeutic tool for those with PTSD, anxiety, depression, addictions and more.
